Warm up: 3 steps to winter proof your wardrobe

Winter is here, meaning it’s time to swap our lightweight summer fabrics for warmer winter wear. At Odrin, the heart of our winter collection is a new line of winter-weight shirts. Made from luxury grade soft textured fabrics like brushed cotton twill and lightweight flannel and available in a wide array of winter appropriate shades – they are destined to become the foundation for your winter wardrobe. We’ve put together a 3-step process for upgrading your wardrobe to make it winter ready. Looking cool while staying warm has never been easier.

STEP 1: TRANSITION YOUR WARDROBE COLORS

Move your summer brights and bold patterns to the back of your wardrobe for the next few months – The foundation of a great winter wardrobe is simple, rich colours. Invest in moody shades like Black and grey and offset this with warmer earthy shades like burgundy and coffee as well as deep hues like navy blue and dark green. Finally, balance your look with neutrals like taupe and cream.

STYLE TIP

“Don’t be afraid to mix and match your winter colours – winter style doesn’t have to be boring! Navy and Dark Green are a great cold weather colour combination, and camel is the perfect neutral for your updated wardrobe.

STEP 2: DRESS IN LAYERS TO KEEP WARM

The key to dressing for winter is being stylishly prepared for the inevitable changes in the weather, from freezing morning and evening temperature, to cosy midday or warm indoor conditions.

Dressing in multiple layers allows you to add and remove items as needed to adapt to the changing temperatures. Take off layers when the sun is out during the day and put them back on for chilly mornings and cold nights. Layer light knits and breathable cotton t-shirts with thicker sweaters, flannel shirts, and heavy-duty outerwear for a practical yet polished look

STYLE TIP

“Layer from thin to thick by keeping your thinnest item of clothing at the base, and adding thicker garments as the outer layers. This will make it easier to regulate your temperature as needed.

STEP 3: INVEST IN THE PERFECT WINTER COAT

You won’t regret investing in a winter coat that serves multiple purposes. The perfect coat should be: a) Slim yet fit well over multiple winter layers; b) Versatile enough to be worn with different outfits, from casual-wear to formal suits; c) Be made of quality, and warm fabric to face cold weather; and d) Made in a classic style and colour that will last a lifetime.

Aim for timeless outerwear in sophisticated winter colours like black, camel, or navy.
